Basic Low Angle Rope Rescue Course

The Basic Low Angle Ropes Class meets the NFPA 1006 requirements for technical rescue. This course will focus on knots, low and high angle rope rescue set-ups, lifting and lowering systems and mechanical advantage systems utilizing rope techniques. This is achieved using a mixture of classroom and field exercises. This course is excellent for the basic rescuer to gain the basic skillset in dealing with low angle rope situations. This basic low angle ropes training will be a recommended skill for attendance in Swift Water Rescue and Awareness I class and is also recommended for other Rescue College level classes, especially Basic and Advanced Trench. This information is also extremely helpful to the basic responder to assist in patient removal from a variety of situations normally encountered in the rescue/EMS field.

Personal Protective Equipment for this class includes:

· Helmet for head protection (recommended rope rescue helmet with 5 point suspension system…fire helmets are acceptable for this low angle class)

· Seat or full body rescue harness if available

· Leather gloves (fire gloves are not recommended due to dexterity issues when working with rope)

· Safety Glasses ANSI approved

Course Length: 16 hours

Pre-requisites: NONE

Cost:  

TARS Full Unit Member: $85 per student 

TARS Associate Member: $150 per student 

Non-TARS Member: $200 per student   

Note: All registrations received up to two weeks prior to the start date of the class will be at the normal pricing. Any registration received during the period two-week period prior to the start date of the course will incur an additional $20 processing fee regardless of member, associate member, or non-member registration.
